Our Favorite RecipesOur favorite recipe spots are these...
I'll link to our favorite recipes below too, but these are some of the complete sites so you can browse and find what you like. Some of these sites include recipes with ingredients all over the Keto spectrum. That is the beauty of this way of eating (WOE) We each had to figure out several things. First how many carbs can we consume and regain health, lose fat and inflammation. Second, we had to notice what foods will spike our insulin...hence the journey. We began simply as "Keto" probably 20-25 carbs a day. As we learned more, we realized we needed to get more serious about this and went pretty much carnivore and keep our carbs under 10 carbs/day. This is when big changes began happening for us. Here are links to a few recipes we have tried and like...
We have created some of our own recipes and will share those later, but this is a good start for anyone wanting to get started. And speaking of getting started...positioning yourself for success is a big help. I realize I am blessed that my husband is doing this with me and we have no children at home now. So I was able to go through my kitchen and throw out (yes I threw out some food...my health was worth more to me than a bottle of ketchup or a bag of rice.) I did give what I could away. But some did go in the trash. Here is how our shopping list now looks. Our grocery trips are pretty quick and simple now. 1. Butter (we like Kerrygold) 2. Heavy Whipping Cream - Check ingredients closely, some have carbs. 3. Topo Chico or 1877 Mineral Water 4. Eggs 5. Hamburger meat 6. Bacon (Ends and Pieces are an economical way to have bacon) Check for carbs 7. Meat- could be sirloin steak, ribeye steak, pork chops, fish, shrimp, or chicken-what is on sale? 8. Avocados 9. Sour Cream - not skim check ingredients some brands have carbs 10 Pecorino Romano Cheese - from the deli 11. Redmond's Real Salt - Sea salt, Seasoning salt 12. Herbs - garlic, onion powder, basil, thyme, dill, marjoram 13. Limes- new addition for a new drink we now love! 14. Lemons or lemon juice So you can see why we call our WOE more of a "Sloppy Carnivore" because we do eat avocados, limes and a little herbs. Well this is pretty much what we keep in our kitchen. |
